What's Right With The Newton

Note by Michael Wittmann (who is hosting these pages as of 1999 or so): these pages were written by Bill Oakley, available at boakley@vignette.com. I've agreed to keep the pages on the web as a resource for the Newton world (and because I agree with his point - the positive should be mentioned).

A while ago someone had the gall to state the obvious in comp.sys.newton, that most of the time people only report failures, not successes. Not an earth-shattering revelation, but something I guess I never quite noticed before even though I knew it to be true.

I've been so pleased with my Apple Messagepad 2000, and so impressed with the efforts of the Newton development team, that I decided I would write a few articles on what I think is right with the Newton.
